The North Norfolk scheme covers the largest geographical area of any single local authority scheme using LHS Choice Based Lettings Manager in the UK.

The district council’s 100,000 residents inhabit a mainly rural area covering 373 square miles and bounded on one side by 45 miles of North Sea coastline.

North Norfolk went live with the scheme in September 2009 having developed a comprehensive application policy and process which includes a clear and transparent Rural Local Lettings Policy for homes provided on Exception Housing Schemes. The Local Lettings Policy works as a second allocation policy through the LHS Choice Based Lettings Manager.

At the beginning of 2009, North Norfolk had approximately 2,500 applicants on the Housing Register, but only receives about 300-400 nomination and referral requests a year from local housing associations.

The council transferred all its housing stock to North Norfolk Housing Trust (now Victory Housing Trust) in February 2006 and runs the scheme in partnership with Victory and seven other local housing associations.

The scheme runs a two-weekly bidding cycle with all available properties advertised on the Your Choice Your Home website.
